In 2023, I painted a bench and a trash can as a lasting tribute to my late nephew Liam. The artwork is located in a place where Liam and his friends often gathered. This makes it not only a tangible memory of him, but also a spot where friends, family, and passersby can pause to reflect on his life.
The design is based on a photo taken by one of Liam’s close friends. The color sky blue, his favorite color, is the dominant color in the design and on the bench. In addition, the phrase "Rest in Beats" is incorporated as a tribute to his great passion for making beats and music.
For me, this project shows that art can be more than just an image. It can offer comfort, keep memories alive, and give a place meaning for everyone who has to miss someone.
