Mural B&B The Project

For B&B The Project in Heerlen, I created a mural in one of the themed rooms. This unique concept brings together local art and the history of the city: each room is designed by a different artist from the region and tells its own story about Heerlen.

My mural offers a glimpse through nature into the city’s past. By incorporating trees, plants, and greenery into the room, a calming, natural atmosphere is created, while the view takes the visitor back to the former mines that once made Heerlen great. In this way, nature, history, and experience come together in one space.

For those who look closely, a special detail is hidden among the bushes: a Bokkenrijder. This mysterious figure refers to the well-known Limburg legend that is closely connected to the region, and especially to Hoensbroek. It is a subtle nod to the rich past and the stories that still live on in the Limburg landscape.

The mural invites guests not only to spend the night, but also to discover the history and identity of Heerlen. It shows how art can transform a space into a place where stories, heritage, and atmosphere come together.
