Carnival in Limburg Poster 2020

Each year, one artist from Limburg is selected to design the official Vastelaovend in Limburg Poster. In 2020, as a newcomer to Limburg, I had the special honor of creating this iconic carnival poster.

For the design, I deliberately chose a self-portrait. With this selfie, I wanted to show that carnival is not only something you are born with, but also something you can embrace. As a newcomer to Limburg, I have come to know, appreciate, and ultimately cherish the Limburg carnival in my heart. That personal experience formed the basis of the artwork.
My goal was to create a poster that appeals to a wide audience: from young to old. That’s why I chose a colorful, festive composition full of movement, cheerfulness, and the typical exuberance that is so characteristic of the Limburg carnival.
