For the Occupational Therapy program at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, I supervised a creative art project during a project day with the theme ‘Just Do It’.
The aim of the day was to get participants out of their heads and into the creative process. Not endless thinking, but rather experiencing, experimenting, and creating something together.
Using a design I had developed beforehand, we painted three large canvases with a group of about eight participants. While painting, I guided the group in mixing colors, setting up the composition, and filling in the design.
The three paintings grew into one powerful whole that radiates courage, positivity, and resilience. Afterwards, I further refined the canvases so that the spontaneous contributions of the participants were brought together into professional artworks.
This project demonstrates how art can contribute to relaxation, collaboration, and personal development. By letting go, creating together, and above all doing, not only a remarkable end result is achieved, but also a valuable experience for all participants.
