For this project, I designed a mural that not only enhances the space but also serves as a permanent exhibition wall for students' artworks. In collaboration with Reggy Bruine de Bruin, we brought this mural to life.
The design depicts a park-like landscape filled with trees, greenery, and animals, inspired by the natural surroundings of Meerssen. Elements such as the pond and the characteristic Basilica of Meerssen are subtly incorporated into the decor, giving the mural a recognizable connection to the environment.
A special feature of the design is the painted vintage frames that appear to playfully hang among the tree branches. The frames are intentionally left empty so they can be used to display real student artworks. In this way, the mural becomes a changing exhibition in which the creativity of students literally becomes part of the artwork.
