Eijkhagen College

For the new school building of Eijkhagen College, designed by BDG Architecten, I created a subtle, decorative mural in 2024 that brings together tranquility and meaning.

The mural proves that a work of art does not need to be exuberantly colorful to give a space character and vibrancy. By using a subdued color palette, the painting seamlessly matches the modern architecture of the building and contributes to a calm, inspiring learning environment.

At the heart of the design is a large circle, symbolizing the earth, life, and the connection between people. Students help each other to get over the circle, an image that stands for cooperation, mutual respect, and supporting one another during school time and beyond. In this way, the mural is not only a decorative element, but also conveys a positive life lesson.

This project shows how art can contribute to the identity of a school while also serving as a daily source of inspiration for students and staff.
