Educational projects

Broekland College Hoensbroek

date: 2023 - 2026
location: Broeklandcollege, Hoensbroek

In collaboration with Broeklandcollege, Reggy Bruine de Bruin and I created several murals throughout the school. From the schoolyard and various locker blocks to subject classrooms: each project was realized in close cooperation with the students.

During creative workshops, students worked on social and educational themes. They came up with ideas, made sketches, and contributed to the content of the murals. We transformed the most inspiring concepts into professional designs. After the students had painted part of the murals themselves, we finished the murals into sustainable, high-quality artworks.

Schoolyard: Cultural Diversity and Hoensbroek

The main themes for the schoolyard were cultural diversity and Hoensbroek. The murals show that everyone is welcome, regardless of origin, skin color, religion, or gender. Botanical plants and colorful flowers are incorporated into the design to give the schoolyard a fresh, vibrant, and inviting appearance.

Locker Blocks Main Entrance and Basement

On the locker blocks at the main entrance and in the basement, we created paintings around the themes of feminism and youth during the Second World War. These projects brought together the subjects of history and social studies. The paintings invite conversation and encourage students to reflect on freedom, discrimination, and human rights.
Each locker is a small artwork in itself and part of a larger piece.

Subject Classrooms

In addition to the large murals, we also created various paintings in subject classrooms, including those for English, French, music, and mathematics. Each mural matches the respective subject area and contributes to an inspiring learning environment where creativity and education reinforce each other.

With this series of projects, art has become a visible part of daily school life. By actively involving students in the design process, murals were created that not only beautify the school but also strengthen the identity, involvement, and pride of the students.
